2007 Calendar of Events - July
- Canada Day Celebrations, Citizenship Ceremony & Palmer Girls Concert (July 1)
A full day of Canada Day festivities throughout the park. Join staff at the Visitor Centre for a memorial service, performances, official cake cutting, and free cupcakes. Children can celebrate at the Nature House Activity Centre in Newman Sound Campground with face painting, treats and give-aways.
There will be an evening concert at the Newman Sound Day-use area at 8:00pm. Join us for an evening of entertainment with the Palmer Girls and opening acts Geraldine Hollett and Phil Churchill.
- Spirit of Newfoundland Concerts (July 2)
Join us this year at 2pm or 8pm for an entertaining performance by the Spirit of Newfoundland at the Newman Sound Outdoor Theatre in the Heart of Terra Nova National Park.
- TNNP Theatre Show "The Return of Clayton" (July 3)
Come at 8:00pm to enjoy a hilarious peformance by our Park Heritage Interpretation Staff. Part two of "The Broadcove Bachelor", "The Return of Clayton" will have you in stitches.
- Garden Party (July 4)
Join us this year at 2:00pm in the Newman Sound Day-use area for an old fashioned garden party with live music, delicious sweets and a children's fish pond.
- Outdoor 50's Dance (July 5)
Come join TNNP staff and Kelly Russell, at the Newman Sound Day-use area 8:00pm, for an evening of 50's class and dancing under the stars.
- Rising Tide Theatre & TNNP Stamp Unveiling (July 6)
Join us this year at 2pm or 8pm for an entertaining performance by the Rising Tide Theatre at the Newman Sound Outdoor Theatre in the heart of Terra Nova National Park.
During the 2pm performance we will be unveiling the Terra Nova National Park 50th Anniversary stamp.
- Wilderbeats Kids & Crowd of Bold Shareman Concert (July 7)
The Wilderbeats! Join these groovy girls at 3:00pm for an afternoon of fresh & funky music. Tickets available at the door.
At 8:00pm the Crowd of Bold Shareman will be filling the Outdoor Theatre with traditional music.
- Newfoundland Day & Eastpen Players Theatre Performance (July 18)
Newfoundland Day celebrations occur at Newman Sound Service Centre, Nature House & the Visitor Centre. Newfoundland themed activities surround the children at the Nature House. The Newman Sound Service Centre features music by local artists and a "Newfoundland menu" during the lunch hours of 11:30am - 1:00pm. The Visitor Centre also has Newfoundland themed activities, and craft demonstrators throughout the day.
At 8:00pm the Eastpen Players will have a theatre performance for everyone to enjoy at the Newman Sound Outdoor Theatre.
- Take-a-Hike / Canada's Parks Day (July 21)
10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The "Take-a-Hike" event involves several hiking trails throughout the park. There are shorter trails that accommodate families, and other trails for individuals looking for more of a challenge. We encourage all campers, staff, and the general public to come out and participate. Before venturing for your hike, register at the Visitor Centre for your chance to win a prize at the Campfire Circle at 8:00 pm. The Nature House in Newman Sound Campground will continue to have games and activities throughout the day for all children to enjoy.
In celebrating Canada's Parks Day we have partnered with Glovertown on their Diamond Challenge at Ken Diamond Memorial Park. Contact the Town of Glovertown at 533-2351 for further details.
- Federation of Newfoundland Indians Celebrations (July 22)
Come enjoy a celebration of Culture with the Federation of Newfoundland Indians at the Visitor Centre, with traditional dress, drumming and dancing.
