Youth Skills Link Program
In addition to their job shadowing in Terra Nova National Park they attended group presentations on the following topics: Tourism Associations (Kittiwake Coast, Discovery Trail), Colleges (CONA), Youth Funding Programs (HRLE), Canadian Armed Forces (Gander Base), Resource Conservation – Wardens (Burn Hike), Denise Murphy – “Getting the Message Out”, Visitor Centre (Interpretive Tour), Oil and Gas Tour (GEO Centre, St. John’s), Memorial University Presentation and Tour (St. John’s). During the program the participants also received certification in the following: Standard First Aid (St. John’s Ambulance), Super Host Training (Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador), Shaping your Future through Volunteering and Youth Board Leadership Training (Community Service Council), WHMIS (Christine Pike, OSH Advisor TNNP), Intro to Canada Labour Code Part II (Christine Pike, OSH Advisor TNNP), Occupational Health and Safety (Christine Pike, OSH Advisor TNNP) The 2007 Youth Skills Link Participants
